about this policy

This privacy policy explains how Huginn Ventures (“Huginn Ventures”, “we”, “us”, or “our”) handles information when you use the mapique iOS application.

Huginn Ventures is a business registered in British Columbia, Canada.

the information you add

mapique allows you to record and organize information about places you have visited or may want to visit. This information may include:

• countries;
• cities;
• places and guide entries;
• geographic coordinates;
• notes and private guide content;
• addresses and related place details you choose to save; and
• other information you choose to include in an export.

This content is entered by you. mapique does not request access to your device's current, precise, or background location. You can search for a location on the map or position a location manually.

where your travel data is stored

Your mapique content is stored locally on your device as an app document. When iCloud Sync is available and enabled, a copy is stored in the iCloud Documents container associated with your Apple Account so that your data can remain synchronized between your compatible devices.

Huginn Ventures does not operate a server containing your countries, cities, places, coordinates, notes, or private guides, and we do not have an account system through which we can view this content.

Your use of iCloud is also governed by Apple's terms and privacy practices. The availability and security of iCloud are controlled by Apple and by the settings associated with your Apple Account.

device preferences

mapique may store limited preferences on your device, such as appearance settings, whether iCloud Sync is enabled, onboarding status, and a locally generated device identifier used only to support Primary-device sync coordination. These preferences are not used for advertising or tracking.

private guides

Guides created in mapique are private and are stored only as part of your local and, if enabled, iCloud mapique data. mapique does not currently provide a public profile, social feed, shared-guide directory, or a way to publish a guide to other mapique users.

You may export a backup of your data using the system share sheet. That export remains under your control.

diagnostics and crash information

mapique does not include a third-party analytics, crash-reporting, or diagnostic SDK operated by Huginn Ventures, and Huginn Ventures does not operate a server that receives your crash logs, application logs, or device identifiers from within the app.

Apple may independently collect crash or diagnostic information through the App Store or iOS system settings according to Apple's terms and your device preferences. Huginn Ventures does not control that collection.

apple maps

mapique uses Apple Maps and MapKit functionality to display maps, search for locations, resolve place information, and allow you to position map markers.

Map and place-search requests may be processed by Apple in accordance with Apple's terms and privacy practices. Huginn Ventures does not receive your Apple Account credentials from Apple Maps and does not use Apple Maps requests to create an advertising profile.

After you select or position a place, mapique may save the resulting place details and coordinates as part of your private mapique data.

decorative images

mapique may load public decorative images, such as country flags or coats of arms, from third-party content delivery networks to display in the app. Those requests are not used to build an advertising profile of you.

accounts and identity

mapique does not require an account. We do not ask you to provide your name, email address, password, telephone number, or social-media account.

We do not receive your Apple Account identity merely because you use iCloud synchronization.

analytics and advertising

We do not use advertising SDKs, behavioural analytics, cross-app tracking, or third-party marketing profiles.

We do not sell or rent your information, and we do not use your information for targeted advertising.

optional tips

mapique is free to use. You may optionally support its development through a one-time tip processed as an Apple in-app purchase.

Apple processes the payment and related billing information. Huginn Ventures does not receive your complete payment-card information. We may receive transaction and financial reports supplied by Apple, but we do not use them to identify or profile individual users.

exporting your data

You can export a backup of your mapique content in JSON format. The export may contain your countries, cities, places, coordinates, notes, guides, sync-related identifiers, and related app data.

The exported file is created at your request and remains under your control. You are responsible for protecting any exported copy and deciding where it is stored.

You may also import a previously exported backup. Importing replaces the mapique content on your device and, if iCloud Sync is enabled, may update the copy stored in your iCloud Documents container.

deleting your data

mapique provides a Remove All Data option. Using it deletes your countries, cities, and guides from the app. If iCloud Sync is enabled, the emptied map may also be pushed to your other devices that sync the same iCloud document.

Deleting or uninstalling the app does not necessarily delete data already stored in iCloud. To remove that data, use mapique's Remove All Data option while iCloud Sync is on before uninstalling, or manage the app's stored data through your Apple Account and iCloud settings.

Turning off iCloud Sync stops further mirroring; it does not by itself delete an existing copy already stored in iCloud.

Huginn Ventures does not retain a server backup of your mapique travel content. Copies you previously exported are not deleted automatically because they are stored in locations controlled by you.

when information may be disclosed

Because Huginn Ventures does not store your private mapique travel content on servers we operate, we do not disclose that content.

We may disclose limited information when reasonably necessary to comply with applicable law, respond to lawful legal process, protect the rights or safety of users or others, investigate fraud or abuse, or complete a business reorganization subject to appropriate confidentiality protections.

international processing

mapique is available internationally. Apple and any third-party networks used to deliver decorative images may process information in countries other than the country where you live.

Privacy and data-protection laws may differ between jurisdictions.

security

We use reasonable administrative, technical, and organizational safeguards intended to protect information against accidental loss, unauthorized access, misuse, alteration, or disclosure.

No storage or transmission system can be guaranteed to be completely secure. You should protect access to your device, Apple Account, iCloud account, and exported backups.

retention

Your local and iCloud mapique content remains until you delete it, modify it, or remove it through the relevant app or iCloud controls.

Device preferences remain on your device until you change them, clear app data, or uninstall the app, subject to ordinary iOS behaviour.

children

mapique is a general-audience application and is not designed specifically for children. It does not require users to provide their name, age, or contact information.

A parent or guardian who has a privacy concern about mapique may contact us using the details below.

your choices and rights

Depending on where you live, you may have rights concerning personal information handled by Huginn Ventures, including the right to request access, correction, or deletion, or to withdraw consent where applicable.

Because mapique does not use user accounts and Huginn Ventures does not hold your travel content on our servers, most privacy requests relating to your mapique content are handled by you directly in the app, through export, Remove All Data, or your Apple Account and iCloud settings.

changes to this policy

We may update this policy when mapique changes or when required by law. The effective date at the top of the policy identifies the latest version.

Material changes may also be communicated through the app, its App Store listing, or another appropriate notice.
